Ethnic & Regional Foods

Whether you’re looking for Mexican food, Indian food, or Southern food, this selection of ethnic and regional foods has you covered.

Asian

Who doesn’t love a plate of good Chinese food? Or Japanese? Or Thai? I mean… it’s all so good! And with these recipes, it can be healthy, too.

Cuban

As you can see, Cuban food isn’t something I’ve done much of. But I plan to change all that shortly, so stay tuned for more healthy Cuban recipes.

German

I know German food pretty well, having grown up with it and then living in Germany for almost a year. This is very much German home cooking. These aren’t what most people classify as “traditional German food.” These are recipes my German Oma taught me, as well as recipes I learned to cook while living with a German family as an au pair.

Greek

To me, Greek food is teaming with strong flavors and Mediterranean flare. I try to reflect that in the recipes I make. Here, you’ll find what I have so far.

Here are all my Greek-inspired recipes if you need more.

Hawaiian

While I’m the odd duck who has never had a desire to visit the Islands (I’m not much into humidity or palm trees), I have taken a stab at Hawaiian-style food. And while this is nothing like what they make on the Island, it’s a little bit of Hawaiian flare here at home. I hope you enjoy them.

Indian

Indian food is one of my favorite types of food. Second only to Mexican food. Indian food has such wonderful heady aromas and bursting with spicey flavors. Nothing beats a good curry or bowl of lentils.

And not to worry, I have more than what’s listed here. Give some of these a try.

Irish

I spent 3 wonderful weeks traveling through Ireland with my mother and Mini Chef. I miss the warmth of the wonderful people there, and the beautiful countryside Ireland has to offer. Whenever I start missing it, I get into the kitchen and whip up one of these. Problem solved!

Italian

Italian food is pretty American, only in that we love it so much and make so much of it here in the States. And while I’m sure what we make here pales in comparison to some of what they make in the actual country, I don’t mind settling for a little taste of Italy in my own kitchen.

Mediterranean

While I could have lumped this section together with Greek food, I like to keep things a little bit separate so you know what you’re getting. Here are all my Mediterranean food recipes. Hope you enjoy it.

Mexican

Mexican food is probably the type of food we make most around here. Mini Chef and I both love it fiercely and will eat it multiple nights in a row if given the chance. We love Mexican flavors!

If you do, too, don’t stop at the 6 recipes here. Check out all my Mexican food recipes here.

Middle Eastern

I don’t have many of these, but what I have is pretty darn tasty. Enjoy these Middle Eastern flavors at home.

Southern

Now that I’ve lived in the South, I’m making it my personal mission to produce healthy Southern food. You tell me if I’ve done a good job.

Southwestern

Southwestern food has always been a challenge for me. But I’m not one to shy away from a challenge. I think I did pretty well here! But I’ll let you be the judge of that…

Thai

I’m aware that Thai food fits under the Asian category. But I like it to be separated out because the flavors are different enough to definitely deserve their own category.
