HOMEMADE VINAIGRETTE

Few things beat a homemade vinaigrette. Both in cost and in flavor. And lets not even talk about the ingredients! Actually, yes. Lets talk about ingredients…

If you’ve ever picked up a bottle of a commercial vinaigrette, the ingredient list can be longer than your arm in some cases. And the ingredients are typically not something most people would seek out for pouring over their salads. That’s why I love making vinaigrette at home. The ingredients are simple and comes together in minutes. This particular recipe uses only four, simple-to-find ingredients and gets prepared and ready to eat in less than 10 minutes. Not too bad for a tasty vinaigrette!

VINAIGRETTE RATIO

The typical ratio for a good vinaigrette, is 1 part vinegar to 3 parts oil. In this particular recipe, I used the blue cheese are part of the oil ratio. So this isn’t the typical ratio for vinaigrette, but it works amazingly well here and yields a nice, thick and creamy dressing.

BLUE CHEESE VINAIGRETTE

If you love the flavor of blue cheese, this dressing is a great alternative to using the usual, plain ol’ blue cheese dressing. You have the nice, added kick of the balsamic vinegar. So what can you use this on?

  • Regular, green salad
  • Cranberry walnut Salad
  • As a sauce over a baked potato
  • As a sauce over chicken or beef
  • In a pasta salad
A singular jar sits filled with this blue cheese vinaigrette. A small spill of dressing drips down the side of the jar.
