Shrimp tacos are a fast and easy dinner you won’t be able to get enough of. They are hearty, filling, and filled with plenty of tender, seasoned shrimp.
If you need a quick and easy dinner, these shrimp only take about 15 minutes to cook. The rest is just about prepping the toppings you want to use.
Why These Shrimp Tacos Are A Must-Try
- They are fast and easy to make with ingredients you probably already have at home.
- There are no seasoning packets or unwanted/unhealthy ingredients. Just clean, real food.
- Can we say… yum!???
How To Choose The Best Shrimp For Tacos
You can use fresh or frozen shrimp, the choice is yours. But consider the size. Pick the size of shrimp you feel will work best for the size of your tortillas. The larger your tortillas, the larger your shrimp can be. Small, corn tortillas will require small shrimp.
Can You Grill, Bake, Or Pan-Sear The Shrimp?
You can cook the shrimp any way you like, but I find that a quick cook in a skillet is the easiest, so that’s what I did with this recipe. If you prefer to cook them a different way, feel free.
What’s The Best Type Of Tortillas For Shrimp Tacos?
I used whole-grain tortillas. But the truth is, you can use any type of tortilla you like best. Try whole-grain, corn, or even gluten-free tortillas. Pick what you like best, they will all be tasty here.

Can Shrimp Tacos Be Made Ahead of Time?
The toppings can all be prepped a day or so ahead of time as long as they are packed separately. The shrimp are best made just before serving.
About The Ingredients
These ingredients are for the shrimp only. The rest is just prepping whatever taco toppings you like best.
Shrimp – I used pre-cooked/frozen, then thawed. But you can use raw as well, you just need to cook them until fully cooked.
Taco seasoning – Make your own in 2 minutes with this taco seasoning recipe.
Extra virgin olive oil – Or any oil you prefer.
Lime juice – Fresh is best.
How To Make Shrimp Tacos
Gather all your ingredients including anything you want for toppings.
In a skillet, cook the shrimp in the olive oil and sprinkle on the spices in the last few moments of cooking.
Squeeze the lime juice over the shrimp.
Mix well and transfer to your tortillas.
Storage
Try to store any leftover toppings in separate containers. Same for the shrimp and tortillas. These won’t store well as whole, filled tacos.
Freezing
The only parts of this recipe that can be frozen are the shrimp and the tortillas (frozen separately, of course)
Reheating
Reheat the shrimp in a skillet with a small amount of oil until just heated through. Then build your tacos any way you like.
