Why Make Mocktails?

Maybe it was the pandemic, or maybe it was just a general shift in conscious awareness, but 2022 started a trend of declines in alcohol consumption, according to a study done by Nielsen IQ. Apparently, this trend has been driven by Gen Z and millennials. Less alcohol is a good thing for health and wellbeing, and this has driven an uptick in the demand for mocktails.

What Is In A Tequila Sunrise?

A Tequila Sunrise is a well-known cocktail that is named for its vibrant, color, which resembles a sunrise. The traditional version with alcohol is made with tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. But today’s recipe is a mocktail, so we’ll skip the tequila, leaving you with just the delicious juice to sip poolside or beachside.

Can I Use Bottled Juices?

You can! While fresh-squeezed juices are always better in flavor and quality, bottled juices can make an equally delicious mocktail. My only recommendation is to make sure the juice you buy is 100% juice with no added sugar.

Grenadine syrup – It is nearly impossible to find a healthy grenadine syrup that isn’t loaded with corn syrup and other undesirable. So instead, make your own at home with this simple grenadine syrup recipe.

Storage

Store extra mocktail without ice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.

Freezing

This can be frozen in a popsicle mold for popsicles. In theory, you could thaw it again to make more mocktails, but I haven’t tried it.
