Grain Free Trail Mix Recipe
This grain free trail mix doubles as a hearty breakfast or a portable snack on the go!
People are always asking me what they can pack to take with them on long trips. You guys seem to be a mobile bunch!! So I thought I’d make some trail mix you can enjoy on the road.
The really great thing about this is that all you have to do to turn this into breakfast is add some milk of your choosing and you’ve got instant meusli or warm cereal! That’s a win-win in my book. Or even just sprinkle some of this over your morning bowl of oats! It just doesn’t get any easier than that.
This particular batch is going to Mini Chef’s day care. They serve only healthy foods there (I’m so lucky I found one that does!), so I know this will be a big hit. In fact, I might even make some of this for gifts. Put this in a pretty jar with a ribbon and a small wooden spoon, a pretty tag with some ideas for using it, and voila!

This looks like the best afternoon snack!
LWYD – Thanks!
Made something similar but instead of walnut pieces and coconut flakes, used Pepitas, and cashew pieces…
Dee Dee – Sounds wonderful!

Tayra – My pleasure! Enjoy!
I love this recipe. I just swapped out the raisins and dried cranberries for freeze dried goji berries and added some hemp seeds to it. It’s a great post workout protein snack on the way home from the gym!
Traci – Sound wonderful!!!
hi,
I just made this awesome mix. i would like to portion the mix out into baggies for a daily snack. How would i go about that? I just don’t want to over indulge. Thank you for all of your amazing recipes!
Sarah – I would just use a measuring cup for the amount you feel comfortable eating.
What is the portion size? I saw 10 but must have missed amount oer portion?
Kim – 1/2 a cup. 🙂
Sounds delicious. Cranberries and raisins are often sweetened with sugar so I like the idea of substituting goji berries and possibly some white mulberries. Yum
Melinda – I’ve never seen raisins sweetened with sugar, but maybe that’s a thing now. I haven’t purchased them in a while. As for cranberries, many of them are definitely sugar sweetened. But the fruit juice sweetened ones are just as delicious! I get mine at Whole Foods, but you can find them on amazon too.
