Banana Wrap Recipe

This banana wrap makes a perfect breakfast on the go!

A while back, a Facebook fan sent me a link to the Mission Tortillas website. She had found a recipe there (it’s no longer on their website) that she thought would be easy to “clean up”. She was right. This Clean Eating Banana Wrap recipe is fantastic for a kid’s school lunch or a breakfast on the run. (Not bad for adults either!)

A banana wrap, cut in half and stacked on a white background.

In fact, it’s so easy, it’s almost not a recipe at all! And the possibilities are endless! I mean really, what can’t you put in a tortilla?

So if you are one of the few that can’t have bananas, think outside the box! Or rather, outside the tortilla? Try strawberries, apples and cinnamon, even peaches! You really can’t go wrong with this sort of thing. The sky’s the limit, so get creative!

What You’ll Need

1 large whole grain tortilla

¼ cup nut butter (I used peanut butter)

1 medium banana

How To Make A Banana Wrap

Lay your tortilla on a flat surface and spread the nut butter over it, mostly in the center, but try to spread it as much as you can.

Place your peeled banana in the center.

Roll up your tortilla and slice in half.

If you need a great lunch box to take this in, I really like the boxes below. All the little compartments snap together, so it would be really easy to take different toppings and assemble this at work or school so your tortilla doesn’t get soggy between breakfast and lunch.

  1. Hello Tiffany!
First of all thank you for everything you do! I am new to Clean Eating and need all the help I can get.
I have a question… Did you use a different brand than Mission or did you make these tortillas? Just curious b/c I have been looking for “Clean” tortillas. Thanks for your help! 🙂

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Jessica – The ones in this photo I purchased at Trader Joe’s. They are a sprouted wheat tortilla. But you can certainly make your own as well!

  2. Catherine says:

LOL My step-kids ended up not liking this (clean version and not clean version) but man I sure do! 🙂 — I think most kids would love this, but mine (when they are with their bio. mother) aren’t exposed to fun things like this so they balk at the thought of it.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Catherine – Oh dear. Well keep trying! Kids have a way of warming up to “fun stuff” if given the chance often enough!

  3. I had this for breakfast this morning. Filling and tasty!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

      Paulissa – Excellent!!

  4. I like to make a version of this, and mash up the banana in a bowl first and sprinkle a little cinnamon on it. Then either microwave or heat the tortilla on the stove. It makes it all melty and gooey. So good!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Jaime – OMG!!! That sounds AMAZING!!! I’ll be trying that VERY soon! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Love these and I often add extras like ground flax or chia but also sprinkle some cinnamon on it or use dates instead of banana…or both :S
    thx
    G

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Giselle – I hand’t even considered using dates. What a great idea! Thank you!

  6. Yum!
I often have a nutbutter sandwich on whole wheat bread, but this sounds like a yummy treat! I think I will try it for breakfast tomorrow.
    Thanks!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Trish – Great! Let me know how you like it!

  7. Hi again Tiffany!
umm.. I ADORE your site! You have been so helpful and inspirational with cleaning up our lifestyle and getting healthier! Bravo!! Thank you Thank you!
I just wanted to double check that this would be okay for a breakfast while we are taking part in the Sugar Free Challenge?
    Thanks!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Lindsay – Thank you! I’m so happy my blog has been useful for you!

So long as the tortilla and the peanut butter are clean (no added sugar, whole grain, etc) then yes. This is fine on the challenge. It will count for 1 of the 2 fruits in your day.

      Enjoy!

  8. Tiffany, your Mini Chef is such a cutie!

    I love these wraps 🙂

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Tracy – Thanks! I adore that kid. He’s my breath, my heart and my soul.
      Enjoy the wraps!

  9. Jenn@slim-shoppin says:

I’ve done something a little similar, but wrap it in foil and bake for about 10 minutes. The banana and peanut butter get all melty. I haven’t made it for a long time, now I will! 🙂

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Jenn – That sounds yummy! Enjoy!

  10. Hooray! We bought some sugar free PB and are going to make the clean eating quinoa tortillas 🙂 let’s see how my cooking skills size up with this one – wish me luck! We started the sugar free challenge a day late (silly Easter!!), but so far so good!!
    Cheers!!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Lindsay – Fantastic!!! Let me know how everything turns out!

  11. I’ve made something similar in the past except drizzle a bit of honey on it and some wheat germ.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Lynn – Yum! Wheat germ would be a great addition!

  12. I actually had egg whites, hummus, and hot sauce all wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla this morning for breakfast!!! Will have to try this one soon!! Its perfect for a sweet treat if you add in apples and cinnamon. yum!!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Julie – Yes it is!! Hope you enjoy it!

  13. Tiffany, I just have to say that your picture looks at least 10 times better (yummier!) than “their” picture! 🙂

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Amanda – Why thank you! That’s quite a compliment! 🙂

  14. Michelle of Chellbellz says:

Yummy I’ve done this with Strawberries when using the Biggest Loser cookbook. they use too many processed things in my thoughts though, but this one was “clean in my thoughts” never thought about bananas. can try this later on this week.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Michelle – Really? Biggest Loser uses a lot of processed stuff? That surprises me with Jillian Michael’s being a part of the team. I guess I never really paid much attention to what they eat. Interesting.

      1. ChellBellz says:

I have to agree, they do use processed stuff, and I only use the clean recipes in there, like their sausage patties, and this wrap, you just have to twerk it a little bit to be clean in some cases, but some of the recipes aren’t that great you know. But I am going to try this one with the banana’s. I’m still looking for the wraps. when i pick up the whole wheat ones they have a ton of crap in it.
