Slow Cooker Barbecue Chicken Soft Tacos Recipe
These slow cooker barbecue chicken soft tacos are perfect for enjoying the flavors of summer without turning on the barbecue!
Barbecue season is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t cook inside! It may be hot out there, but there is one little appliance that will get you through cooking dinner without heating up and kitchen, and it’s NOT your barbecue, it’s your slow cooker!!
Just think of everything you can get done while this cooks! Work, laundry, errands, all that fun stuff can be accomplished while dinner cooks itself. Sounds pretty good to me!
And I have to tell you, I LOVED these tacos! Something about bbq sauce in a taco just really nailed it for me. YUM!
These were soft, juicy and absolutely sink-your-teeth-in delicious! But I will warn you, it’s not easy to eat just one. So brace yourself. Filling up with a salad before hand is probably a good idea.
Just sayin’….

SLOW COOKER BBQ CHICKEN SOFT TACOS RECIPE:
Barbecue Chicken Soft Tacos
Ingredients
- 3 lb. raw chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
- 1 ⅓ cups clean eating barbecue sauce (see recipe link above)
- 6 standard whole grain tortillas
- your favorite toppings (tomatoes, guacamole, onions, etc.)
Instructions
- Put the chicken and sauce in the slow cooker for 5-7 hours on low or until it easily shreds when stirred. Use to build your tacos.
Just put the chicken in the slow cooker dry? It won’t get too dried out without so liquid? How long to cook?
Nan – Yes, dry. But the sauce is plenty of liquid.
No. Just the chicken and the sauce.
Sounds yummy and your picture makes me want to eat my monitor. I love that your recipes are so yummy, healthy and so easy. Two ingredients! You can’t beat that! 🙂
Thanks!
If you cannot purchase or make a clean eating bbq sauce will this recipe work with just regular bbq sauce, or is that sauce too thick?
I would assume it’s okay with any sauce. You’d have to try it to see.
Fantastic! Slow cooker chicken is the best. Glad you enjoyed it!
I always assume that 1/2 a chicken breast is one serving. But it depends on how many servings you think people will eat.
No, it would be about the same time.
On low.
These were SO good! I make a variety of tacos and fajitas and these are now at the top of my list. My boyfriend even commented that these were the best that I’ve made (big deal here because he eats just to survive and rarely comments on how good something is). Love, love, love your website and recipes. Keep ’em coming!
Thanks so awesome!
Of course! But if you use cous cous, be sure it’s whole wheat.
yep super super delish! Will defiantly be making again:)
Fantastic!
boneless chicken breasts, or on the bone?
boneless and skinless.
I made this chicken with your clean bbq sauce in the crockpot and have been serving it on top of spaghetti squash this week! Amazing!!
Yay! I’m so glad you like it!
That’s wonderful! I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks so much! Glad you’re enjoying them!
I get sprouted wheat tortillas at Trader Joe’s. It’s hard to say without seeing an ingredient list. Just because something is 100% whole wheat doesn’t mean there aren’t other things added.
