As summer begins to fade into fall, it’s important to enjoy some of the last of summer’s fresh produce. This fresh pineapple mango salsa is a wonderfully tasty way to do just that.
If you love a good, fresh, fruit salsa as much as I do, you’ll appreciate how wonderful this easy salsa is. It comes together quickly and easily and can be used in several ways, so you don’t have to worry about leftovers.
Choosing Your Fruits
When you make any type of fresh fruit salsa, it’s important to get the best quality and best-tasting fruit you can get your hands on. If you need to, ask somebody who works in the produce department to help you pick the best. It should go without saying that the more flavor and sweetness your fruits have, the better your salsa will taste.
Balancing Your Flavors
Homemade salsa is one of those dishes you can completely adjust to your own tastes. It’s hard to make a wrong choice here unless you go completely off the rails with your ingredient choices. Adjust spiciness to your liking with more or less jalapeno. Is your fruit not sweet enough? Consider adding a few drops of stevia to bring out their sweetness. Consider the acidity of your salsa too. Does it have enough lemon or lime juice to create a great balance in flavor? Make the adjustments that taste best to you.
The Texture Of Your Finished Salsa
Texture is important for any salsa. How the salsa feels in your mouth goes a long way to your opinion on how good it is. Generally speaking, the smaller you chop everything, the better “mouthfeel” your salsa will have. Don’t chop things so small that they turn to mush, but get those pieces as small as you can for the best results.
What Are Some Fun Ways To Serve This Pineapple Mango Salsa?
If you are serving this to a crowd, try cutting your pineapple lengthways and hollowing out the shell. Leave the leaves on top. Then you’ll have a decorative bowl to serve the salsa in. Use a decorative bowl, or use edible garnishes that make a nice presentation such as edible flowers.
How To Serve Pineapple Mango Salsa
This salsa is wonderful served with corn chips for a snack or appetizer. But that’s not the only way you can use it. Try serving some over grilled chicken or pulled pork, or adding it to tacos and burritos.
