Super Nutrient Smoothie
This super nutrient smoothie is stuffed with good-for-you vitamins and minerals. You can’t get much healthier than this one!
It might not be the prettiest smoothie you’ve ever seen, but it’s definitely up there on the list of healthiest smoothies ever.
I should start off by letting you know that I just got a new Vitamix. So this particular recipe will require a high-powered blender.
I currently have bronchitis while I’m writing this, so I’m looking for any way to get lots of nutrients in my body to help me recover as fast as possible. I think today is the worst of it, so cooking is not really at the top of my list. But I know it’s important to eat, so I immediately turned to my sparkly, brand new Vitamix blender. Maybe it’s the congestion in my head, but I swear I heard it whisper that it would take good care of me and help me feel better if only I would turn it on. So I did.
I grabbed whatever was on the countertop and dropped it in the blender. I was very pleased with the results. I can’t taste much right now, but boy could I taste the yumminess of this smoothie! And just for the record, I had some not-sick people try this as well. They loved it, so I know my taste buds aren’t too screwed up from the congestion.

Equipment
- High powered blender (like a Vitamix)
Ingredients
- 1 medium apple (cored and peeled if you wish)
- 1 medium banana (peeled)
- 1 medium orange (peeled)
- 1 medium roma tomato
- 3 cups fresh baby spinach leaves
- 1 tbsp. chia seeds
- water as needed
Instructions
- Place in your Vitamix or other high-powered blender and blend until smooth.

Hope you feel better soon. This looks like a surefire way to up your nutrients. 🙂
Sarah – For sure!
I love smoothies and this is one hell of a nutritive one.
Radhika – Yes it is!
I’m trying this in the morning or rather in 6 hours when I have to get up for work. Thanks Tiffany
Anna – I hope you enjoy it!
Welcome to The Wonderful World of Vita! My go to blend is Kale, Spinach, Frozen Blueberries, Frozen Strawberries, Chia Seeds and Vanilla Protein which is sometimes substituted for Vanilla Greek Yogurt. I look forward to reading about your VitaMix creations!
Jillian – Thanks! Sounds yummy!
I so want a vitamix. We have a friend who has one and he makes our all natural peanut butter for us. I am saving money for one!! So can’t wait to try this some day. Hoping you feel better.
Rhadonda – I think you’ll love it when you do get one.
I adore my vitamix. FYI – you don’t have to core the apple. Technically it is powerful enough to do the apple whole – but I whack it in quarters to make it easier.
FYI – my favorite combination is spinach, fresh pineapple (Again – don’t have to core it – just slice the outside off and slice into rounds and then chunk it… core and all), frozen mango and a cup of lime greek yogurt. Or plain greek yogurt. Add ice/liquid as needed to make it workable. …
ER – Thanks!
My favorite right now would be a green peanut butter banana smoothie.
1/2 cup unsweetened Greek yogurt
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter or other nut butter
1 frozen banana
2-3 cups fresh spinach
4-6 ice cubes
Marcy – Sounds delicious!
I’m so glad you got a Vitamix! I love mine!!! I have a green shake every morning for breakfast. Love it. Looking forward to seeing what else comes out of your blender. Get well soon.
Snuckles – Thanks!
Yaya!!! You got one! Good for you! You will fall in love with all of it’s specialness (I know it is not a word)… hehehe
~deirdra
Deirdra – I have no doubt!
A friend and I were just talking about these. I would love to know specifics on the specialness. Thanks in advance!
Joyce – In regards to what a vitamix can do when compared to regular blenders?
I made a smoothie today that was amazing! so I am sharing!
2 handfuls of baby spinach
1 pear cored
1/4 banana
1 slice of a pineapple (middle and all)
3 frozen strawberries, half frozen kiwi
handful of ice, 1tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp flax, splash of almond milk, squirt of agave, a dash of pumpkin spices.
blended it up in my vitamix and its delish!
Ashley – Sounds wonderful, thank you!
I love my Vitamix!! Sounds like a vitamin-packed wonder!!
Bellaspire – Hope you enjoy it!
With your vita mix just add ice cubes instead of water.
Ducky – I’m not sure that would have been very good with this one. But certainly worth a shot!
Dlenakakis – frosting is a tough one. You will never get the same consistency of the commercial stuff using clean ingredients. While the method I’m about to suggest is not conventional, it may work with a little fines on your part.
If you bake a clean cake, cut out small circles using a small ice cream scoop. Then you could try coating them in a chocolate frosting like I used for my halloween cupcakes (here on my blog under the halloween category). They won’t be overly pretty, but maybe if you roll them in something like coconut or chopped nuts after, they may look better. Again, I don’t know if this would work, but it’s what I would try in your situation. Good luck and let me know how it all turns out!
Lkemme – That’s pretty much what I’m doing at this point. But it’s fun!
Birmingham – I’ve never heard that, so I can’t comment. Sorry.
Kathy – Wow. I have to say I’ve never been that particular about my food. As long as it’s clean, I’m happy to eat it. I think in any eating plan it’s important to get a wide variety of fruits and veggies. But I’ve never heard of any of that where spinach is concerned and have also never heard of anyone being poisoned by eating too much spinach. There is a lot of information out there and anybody, on a whim, can put their own spin on the result of a study or a bit of research. Just the fact that you are eating spinach puts you ahead of most of the population these days. I say rotate your greens for health and nutrient purposes, not for fear or worry from an article you read. While there are a lot of reputable resources on the web, it’s still the internet. Anybody who can type can post an article online. If you are truly concerned, then it’s best to talk to a dietitian or your doctor. But otherwise, just enjoy eating fruits and veggies in all their varieties to gain the benefits of a truly healthy diet..
Clandtlady – If you find it, please share! I’m still a little intimidated by this thing. But I’m getting used to it…
Kabrumm – I got mine at Costco, they had a better deal than QVC.
Lori – Thanks, I will!
Ellen – I will, thanks!
My recent favorite:
1 banana
1 cup Kefir (plain)
6-11 oz. of coconut water depending on how thin/thick you want the smoothie
1 cup of strawberries
Splash of vanilla soy or almond milk
Some ice if you want it colder
Enjoy!
Jeanninee – Oh yum!
Trina – You’re right. It’s easy to slack off and get back in to bad habits. Gotta fight that every step of the way!
Jessica – Yum! Thanks!
Lisa – Fantastic! Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Haha!
Catie – Great suggestion!
