Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and gather your measured ingredients.
Place the whole wheat pita bread on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pita bread, leaving a small border around the edges.
Sprinkle the dried oregano over the tomato sauce.
Add the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza.
If you wish, you can add some fresh basil now, and then add more when the pizza comes out of the oven. this is optional.
Drizzle the olive oil over the top of the pizza.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the pita are crispy. Remove the Margherita Pita from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Sprinkle the torn or chopped fresh basil leaves over the top of the pizza.
Slice the Margherita Pita into wedges using a knife or pizza cutter and serve.
