All Purpose Seasoning Recipe

This clean eating all purpose seasoning is great on so many foods!

I’ve been looking for a really good, all purpose seasoning for quite a while. I’ve used seasonings like Mrs. Dash on occasion, but was never really impressed with the flavor. They were good, but not really good.

An open jar filled with all purpose seasoning. The lid rests on the side of the jar.

I’m big on flavor. If I put seasoning on my food, I expect the flavor to be robust and very pleasing to the palate. Thankfully, this recipe accomplishes just that. The recipe itself is a combination of a couple of recipes I came across on the net. I took a little of this, and a little of that, and before I knew it, I had a fabulous seasoning blend. I love it when that happens!

I hope you’ll enjoy this as much as I have. It’s great on just about anything but my favorite is chicken.

What You’ll Need

2 tbsp. garlic powder – Garlic granules work too.

4 tsp. onion powder – Onion granules work just as well.

2 tsp. paprika

2 tsp. celery seed

2 tsp. thyme

1 tsp. ground mustard

How To Make All Purpose Seasoning

Mix all herbs together in a bowl until well combined.

Store in an air tight container.

Sanjeeta – Thanks! The jar was fun to make too. I made about 12 of them, and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of them. There’s a lot to be said for a jar you can just erase the label on!

  3. Love the spice recipes, I’m headed to the store this weekend! Where-oh-where do you get those jars????

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

dawn – I made them. Well, not the jars themselves, obviously! lol. The jars are from some bath and body products I used to make and sell. They are pretty easy to find on the web. Then, I just taped off a square on the front of them and painted them with chalkboard paint. They’ve been indispensable!

  8. Thank you so much for publishing all these rubs! we are going to make them this week! i am not able to have much salt in my diet, so it’s soo good to see recipes that leave salt OUT!! i love you blog- new to following it but I LOVE IT!! I also am doing the Paleo diet and a lot of your recipes are very Paleo:) i just usually have to omit the corn or beans, but very doable! thank you for being a resource I can use:)

Jen – My pleasure! I’m happy you’re enjoying my recipes!

  9. Do you have a chili seasoning and meat loaf seasoning recipe. I really would like to not have to use store bought full of preservatives.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Not at the moment. A chili seasoning is in the works, but I never use meatloaf seasoning. I just season it as I make it with herbs. Maybe the spices I use in my meatloaf recipe will work for you?
