Homemade Hamburger Helper Recipe

This homemade hamburger helper gives you all the flavor without any of the chemicals!

There are a lot of people out there who use the boxed Hamburger Helper stuff for cooking a fast and easy dinner. I’m not one of them, but I do understand the need for that fast convenience from a box. So after a little research, I came up with this homemade hamburger helper recipe, a clean and healthy version of the boxed Hamburger Helper.

Clean Eating Hamburger Helper Recipe

Make the spice mix ahead of time so you have it handy in the pantry. It makes dinner go much faster if it’s already done, and the amounts used will give you a nice little jar full to keep in your pantry.

Many people use Hamburger Helper to make cheeseburger pasta. It’s delicious cleaned up!!

RECIPE NOTES:
The sweetener called for in the recipe is optional, but it really does make a difference in the flavor. That being said, it’s yummy either way, just different depending on whether you add it or not. What I ended up doing was omitting it from the dry mix recipe and simply adding a few drops of stevia to my finished recipe after cooking the cheeseburger pasta. It really does change things, but both are equally good. So give it a try both ways to see what you prefer!

I can’t locate Sucanat or coconut sugar locally….Any suggestions for another substitute?

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Mindy – You can get it online. At the store it can come under different names. Sucanat is a brand name for raw, unprocessed sugar. If you have a local health food store, I recommend them although some mainstream stores are starting to carry it as well.

  2. Is that dried parsley or fresh? Thank you.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Mel – Dried. All the spices are dried. Enjoy!

  3. Ive never had this combination of spices before so I want to make sure I like it. Is there any way to cut it down to a smaller quantity? If I end up not liking it I don’t want to have wasted too much of my spices. Please let me know. Thanks.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Christa – Yes. If you hover your mouse over the yield number in the recipe, an adjuster should pop up allowing you to scale down the recipe.

      1. Well that’s a super cool feature! Thanks for your help! ????

Christa – My pleasure! It doesn’t always do the best job, but it’ll get you in the ballpark. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

          1. I made just enough for two tablespoons for the cheeseburger pasta recipe and it turned out perfect. I am going to make a full batch of it for my spice rack. Thank you for providing all these delicious recipes.
