Cherry Beet Smoothie Recipe

This cherry beet smoothie will start your morning with plenty of good-for-you vitamins!!

I think I’ve mentioned, I don’t like beets.

2 glass jars of Clean Eating Cherry Beet Smoothie sitting on multi-colored pebbles. One jar is a taller carafe and the other is a small, short, single serving jar.

I’ve never liked beets.

I want to like beets.

I continue to cook beets in the hopes that I will learn to like beets.

I still don’t like beets.

But I had them for breakfast the other morning and MAN were they good! You see, I had some leftovers from my last recipe and just could not bring myself to eat them as they were, despite the fact that everyone else loved them. So I got creative and ended up with this surprisingly sweet and delicious smoothie.

They actually aren’t too bad when served a little on the sweet side and I know they have crazy good health benefits. So if I’m going to have them, then this is the way I’ll make them. You can’t “beet” a beautiful smoothie first thing in the morning!!

Just sayin’.

  2. LOL… you are too cute! I’ve been juicing my beets and adding them to smoothies for awhile now, my family calls them the ‘dirt’ drinks.
Thank you for your continued efforts on getting these beet recipes down… I’m loving them!

  3. I like beets (it took me a while), but my problem is the staining. How do you keep them from staining your hands?

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

They didn’t stain my hands too bad. But you can always wear gloves.

  8. Would I be able to use unmarinated beets?
and do they have to be cooked? (I’m new to the smoothie world)

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Shawna – They don’t have to be marinated, but they do have to be cooked.

      1. Costco of all places sells cooked beets packed in individual servings. This would be a great use for them. I’m going to try!

  9. I tried this and I have to admit I really didn’t like it but I’m going to choke it down because I know it’s good for me.

  10. We are getting beets in our next CSA box. I have never eaten beets before and the smoothie looks like it might be good. Only problem is that my daughter is allergic to banana. What could I substitute for the banana? thanks

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Rose – I’m not sure how it would go with the beats, but typically, mango is the substitute for bananas.

  11. This smoothie looks so good!! I’m making the marinated beets right now so I can make the smoothie tomorrow or the next day!!

Also, for the person looking for a banana substitute, you could try avocado. I make a lot of smoothies with that and it would be similar texture as the banana and not overpowering flavor.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Joann – Thanks for the tip! Let me know how you like the smoothie! 😀

  12. It was delicious! I used almond/coconut milk blend instead of the light coconut milk so mine probably wasn’t as thick. I also put some fresh ginger in place of the cinnamon just because I use that a lot in my smoothies. I’ll definitely make this one again!

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Joanna – Fantastic! So glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

  13. Tip for the stains on hands…use a little baking soda. Took mine right off.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Joann – Thank you!! Great to know!!

  14. This may be a dumb question. I know what beets are but what are marinated beets?

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Trina – If you click the bold text in the recipe, it will take you to the recipe for marinated beets. It’s just the way you cook them.

  15. By coconut milk do you mean canned or..?

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Evy – That’s what I used. I haven’t found one yet in a carton that is clean.

  16. Why do the beets need to be cooked? I have used them raw in other smoothies.

    1. The Gracious Pantry says:

Angela – That’s just the way I did it. You can try them raw if you prefer.

  17. Kurt Jacobson says:
