Happiness Challenge

I’m always trying to find little ways in which to find happiness. To find the little things in my life that I really appreciate and that typically will put a smile on my face and in my heart.

While sitting in class, this idea suddenly popped into my mind, and I couldn’t get rid of it no matter what I did. So while I was listening to the teacher (promise!) I was also formulating this little challenge. I’ve done this myself, and it’s a really nice way to recognize the gratitude with have for seemingly insignificant things in our lives. Things so small that we often don’t even realize that we are grateful for them.

Here’s what you do:

Part 1
I challenge you to make a list of 100 things that you love.

The catch is, they have to be small things. The little, seemingly insignificant things in life that bring you pure joy like a good cup of coffee or a warm pile of laundry on a cold day. Write this list BEFORE moving on to step 2.

Part 2
Did you write your list? Here’s the next step.

Cross off 5 things that you can live without. 5 things that you could go the rest of your life without, and still be happy. Just 5. THEN, circle 5 things on your list that you CANNOT live without to be happy.

Part 3
The top 5 need to be things you include in your life daily. The bottom 5, take off the list, and the rest you should include in your life at least 1 time (each thing) per month. Enjoy!

And if you’re a very brave soul, come back and share your top 5!
