I’ve been doing some research about clean eating after it was recommended by my chiropractor. I have some health issues that I’m trying to improve and am very glad I found your site! Thank you!

  • Megan

I also wanted to ask where you get most of your groceries….like where do you find clean peanut butter and things like that?

  • http://www.thegraciouspantry.com The Gracious Pantry

Megan – Thank you so much! I’m so happy to have you as a reader! Clean eating is an excellent tool for regaining health. Good for you!

  • http://www.thegraciouspantry.com The Gracious Pantry

Megan – If you go to this page: http://www.thegraciouspantry.com/free-clean-eating-downloads/, you’ll find some pdf downloads where I cover just that. Hope it helps! The main thing with clean eating is being sure to read each ingredient list. If you would not buy an ingredient in the list to cook with in your own kitchen, chances are it’s not clean. Avoid processed sugars of any kind, wheat flour (should say 100% whole wheat/meal/grain) and unpronounceable items. Good luck!

Jenny – Thank you so much! And yes, it’s much harder as you get older. Especially after kids! But it’s still completely doable. So lets do this!!

Your clean-eating approach WORKS! Nothing I’ve tried in the past ever worked,
because I always felt deprived and never felt satisfied — a set-up for “giving in” and going back to my old ways after a day or two. Once I got off of the’ sugar-dirty carb-processed food’ merry-go-round, the sugar-carb addiction receded and I felt that I at least had some measure of control. Gravitating toward sugar and carbs IS an addiction.

  • Anonymous

Rita – Yes it does! And yes, it is an addiction. But one we can quickly get past, thankfully. You’re doing a great job! Keep it up!

  • kristi

Im new here…is there a recipe box to keep ur favs in? Thank you!

  • Anonymous

Kristi – No, sorry. But I’ve heard Recipe Nut works pretty well.

  • Beckywalls02

Just recently came across your website. I find your “lifestyle” very intriguing and am starting (slowly, mind you) to adapt some of what you talk about. I found some whole wheat pastry flour and am starting to experiment with it. First recipe last night was a butternut squash pie, which turned out fabulous! Thanks for all the great recipes!

Becky – That’s wonderful!! The best way to start is to just start, one meal at a time. You’ll do great!

I am so excited to see all these amazing recipes & ideas for a clean eating ifestyle. Thank you Kim Challen for sharing this with me!

Shesnider – You’re welcome! I’m glad you’re enjoying my recipes. I can tell you that a HUGE help is to make large portions and freeze in single portions so you can always just grab something healthy and microwave if you have to. It’s saved my behind on more than a few occasions. You can totally do this!!

  • Shaie

Hi, I’ve looked at many of your recipes that have protein powder in them, but then in a comment on emergency preparedness clean food you said you can’t or don’t eat protein powder anymore. Do you have a post that talks about this or can you explain more about your reasoning? Thanks!

  • Anonymous

Shaie – I have gone back to school to become a registered dietitian. So far, I have taken one basic nutrition class. And what I learned from that was that I was getting plenty of protein in my diet without adding protein powder to the mix. Protein powders should really only be used when there is either a protein deficiency, or an increased need for protein for one reason or another. Excess protein on a daily basis is simply converted to fat in the body. The only time I use a protein powder now is in my protein smoothies if I haven’t had enough protein for the day. This does not happen very often for me as I eat plenty of eggs and chicken. It’s a personal choice and I don’t advocate either using it or giving it up. It’s just what I’ve chosen to do for myself. Several recipes on my blog do contain it simply because I was consuming it regularly for a while. Hope that clears things up.

Kerry – Welcome! And yes, there is nothing like a child to change your perspective. Even if they are just a twinkle in your eye. Good for you for doing this now. Your baby will benefit many times over from the healthy decisions you make!

Cindy – Thank you so much! I think this society has largely forgotten that the body is 100% natural, and therefore requires 100% natural fuel to function optimally. The second we implement that, we feel better! Welcome to my blog!
