Joleane - I no longer use protein powders. At least not on a consistent basis. Only occasionally in a smoothie if I don't have a hard boiled egg or some other source of protein to go with it. But you could certainly try it!

Cici - Having two is not a big deal. Don't be so strict with yourself that you can't enjoy the food you are eating. While portion control is key, the occasional extra bit of something is fine. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this recipe! I am in week 5 of eating clean and struggling with cravings for foods I know I shouldn't be having. This really helped me although I did have two :)

Erica - You came to the right girl! I lived in Germany as well. Here is a list of the flours in English and German. Hope that helps. As for substituting, you can substitute pretty much any flour in this recipe.

Rice Flour - Reis Mehl
Oat Flour - Hafer Mehl
Whole Wheat Flour - Vollweizen Mehl
Buckwheat Flour - Buchweizen Mehl
Quinoa Flour - Reismelde Mehl
Millet Flour - Hirse Mehl

Oh, and I also wanted to add that you could increase the protein content by adding Cottage Cheese. I have a recipe for pancakes with cottage cheese, and they are surprisingly good. You can't taste the cottage cheese specifically. You can leave the cottage cheese whole and lumpy, or throw it in a blender to make it more smooth. Whatever your preference is.

I was wondering if there are any alternative flours you might suggest using. I don't have Oat Flour on hand. I am currently residing in Germany, and it is sometimes difficult (not to mention that I am not German so I can't read German) to find different ingredients needed to create my clean eating fares. I have to order most of my flours online from Bobs Red Mill, and it takes a week or two to get it. So, in the mean time, what would you suggest?
