Actually I've been doing this for several years except I use Old-Fashioned oats. If I don't have a bowl, I use a styrofoam cup (sorry Green people), cover it with literally anything, and in just a few minutes, you have a cup of real whole grain oatmeal. The less processed the oats, the more they fill you. And the protein powder rebuilds the muscles after my workouts. So good.

Christine - Cottage cheese is one of those foods that comes down to a personal decision. When I ate dairy, I always included it. And I believe that most clean eaters do. However, if you look at the ingredients, it's kind of a toss-up. Do what works for you.

What a great idea! I use protein powder alot but with lactose milk. Btw, is cottage cheese a clean food? Chocolate protein powder mixed with the cottage cheese is a yummy snack. Although perishable, don't stash that one! Lol

My oldest son was never much of a sandwich eater so I used a smaller wide-mouth thermos (no glass) to pack soups, stews, pastas, etc. in his lunchbox. I also ad one with a lid that could go into the freezer (like a built in gel-pack) to keep fuit salads, cottage cheese, applesauce, etc cold. For field trip days when we needed to brown-bag it, I froze a juice box and packed tuna salad or whatever he would eat at the time in half a pita pocket, along with some carrot and celery sticks and an apple or orange. The juice box kept everything cold until lunch time when it would be defrosted enough to drink. I tried to limit what had to be thrown away while still not having to worry about anything being left behind in another town or state.

Jodi - What an excellent idea! If you don't mind, I'd like to share that in an upcoming post about school meals.

This isn't quite so "instant", but another idea (thanks to Laurel's Kitchen) is to put your oats, etc into a wide mouth thermos (stainless steel preferably) pour in the hot water, almond milk, silk whatever you prefer and close it up before you go to bed, or before you leave for wherever. When you're ready you have oatmeal cooked and ready to eat. The thermos (especially stainless steel) will keep it very hot as long as you don't keep opening it. Laurel's suggestion was for a hot breakfast for the family without having so much to do in the morning when trying to get everybody off for school and work.

Marianne - I've been to Tubingen. Lovely place. And I can tell you as an American, any place in Europe is breath taking. I love the States, but Europe is amazing.
