Marsha - Wow! It's amazing how hard our government makes it to get simple foods these days. I can only imagine how yummy that butter is though!

In order to purchase raw milk here in TN, you must be a member of a co-op, wherein you purchase a share of a cow and then essentially purchase the milk from 'your' cow. It's very expensive; the closest alternative is a local dairy whose milk is the closest to raw milk. The gallons of whole milk is pasteurized, but not homogenized...so cream collects at the top as it sits in the fridge. I have started collecting and freezing it until I have about half a cup of the cream, and I then use my immersion blender to make butter with it....it is SO good.

Jennifer - No, it was definitely raw milk. There was a whole section for it at the store. Maybe it's just that particular brand? Not sure. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Hi Tiffany,

Great share! Thank you. I'm a huge fan of raw milk and have been using it for several years. I feel so fortunate to have easy access to it in California. When I lived in Massachusetts it was a bit trickier. It has definitely been instrumental in improving my family's health. Yes it costs a lot, but I would much rather pay my big bucks to the farmer, rather than the pharmacy. Regarding shelf life, I wonder if the milk you had was mislabeled or something, because I find the raw milk we get generally has a longer shelf life than pasteurized. It generally stays fresh several days after the expiration date.
Thanks again. Great video!

Michelle - Ya, there's no doubt it's expensive. Hopefully, as demand increases, that will change.

I did a research paper on raw milk and pasteurizing for my bio class after a friend got really sick from drinking it. I still wanted to try it, but when i saw some in the store I almost fainted at the price. It's too bad they don't have milk deliveries like the old times...

Great video... we've been drinking raw milk ever since I had my daughter a year and a half ago. I can get it right at the farmers market here in Santa Monica so I'm grateful for that! It's delicious but definitely expensive -$7 for a half gallon, there was a time when i was buying 3 gallons a week! But I look at it as prevention;). I will say, that our milk doesn't go bad that quickly... often times it will last upwards of a week. PS - have you tried raw cream? To die for in your morning coffee!!
