I actually got the idea for this when I was shopping at Whole Foods. There was a lady there who was selling coconut oil, and she suggested putting it on popcorn.

At first, the idea didn’t sit too well with me. But then movie night came, and popcorn was a necessity. Since she had talked me into buying the coconut oil, I figured, what the heck! So I warmed a little oil and poured it over the popcorn… that is how easy this coconut oil popcorn recipe is to make!

Well, I can tell you that, in this household at least, we will never again eat popcorn any other way again because it is delicious!

  1. It’s the same stuff I cook with 🙂 You can wipe the excess off your hands if it’s messing up the touch screen on your cell phone 😉 Just don’t use it in your hair lol

Jen – I love to rub it into my hands. Makes a great lotion! 🙂

  2. how do you cook the popcorn? i usually cook mine in olive oil and sprinkle some sea salt over it… i dont know how else to pop it.

Emilie – Yup! That’s how I pop mine too. That or a hot air popper. 🙂

  3. So, just mixed up a bunch of different things I had been reading. Nothing perfected…yet! But, I put a little bit of coconut oil in the bottom of a paper bag (lunch size), threw in about 2 T of popcorn kernels, and shook up the bag. I popped it in the microwave for about 2.5 minutes (I am sure it depends on the microwave). Apparantly you cannot let it go more than 2-3 seconds between pops or it will burn (without all of the additives). The oil did pretty much soak through the bag, so next time I will put a paper towel under the bag. But, the popcorn is AMAZING! It was so quick and easy. So excited to try some of the topping tips from the comments section. I think this would be so fun for kids as well!!

Judy – Fantastic! If I owned a microwave, I’d probably do it the same way! 🙂

Just last week I saw organic coconut oil at Wal-Mart!! It is the same brand I had purchased at Whole Foods. It was in the baking aisle.

Karen – Fantastic! Which Walmart was that?
